End of 2017 news12/13/2017 We are now closed for the winter. We reopen in the spring, just before Easter, ready for the daffodils and spring flowers that 'litter' the garden. Much work is going on behind the scenes ready for our guests in 2018. Our final event of 2017 was our Charity Casino Night, what fun we all had! Thank you to everyone who came along to make it such a special evening. We raised over £1000 for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, a local charity which helps Islanders to cope with the death of loved ones. Bed and Breakfast bookings are coming in from all over the world. Please remember if you contact us directly we may be able to give you a better rate than the Online Travel Agency that you booked through!! Merry Christmas from all at Lisle Combe
Best wishes for a prosperous 2018! We hope to see you soon.

Charity Casino night11/3/2017 Charity Casino Night Saturday 9th December Bugsy Malone theme An evening of style & sophistication! Tickets: £15 (includes a welcome drink and casino chips) Come dressed in your best mobster or moll outfit! 7.30pm until 11.30pm Silent Auction in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice Last year's Casino night had a 007 theme, this year we are hoping that the inner child-gangster with emerge and we may even see a splat gun! Not sure if we can beat the Aston Martin of last year though!
We raised a fantastic £1400 for the Bus Shelter in 2016, this year we are celebrating the Hospice's 35th Anniversary by supporting them on our Charity Night and hope to equal last year's total. Tickets need to be purchased in advance from Ruth or Robert at Lisle Combe. The Bed and Breakfast has continued to be busy throughout October, with our final Pop Up Pub of the year in this month too. It was wonderful, as always, to welcome lots of locals to the pub. It was great to have Jim Mercer join us with his blues guitar sound. Our guest from Romania loved the experience! "British quality at it's finest!! Love it! The Elizabethan style of the house, the smell of NYR, the stylish coyness of the room, the tasty breakfast and the openness of the hosts have made me delay my departure." Beatrice from Romania, living in London. It's always fun meeting the people who choose to stay at Lisle Combe, some come to us not really knowing what to expect whilst others have very predetermined assumptions! It's always interesting when they realise we actually live in Lisle Combe, it's our home! Comments from our guests this month: "Beautiful home, lovely hosts. We don't want to leave, loved every second. Major points for being superb with (2yr old) Oscar!" Darren, Kimberley & Oscat the T-Rex! "Ruthie indulged us with chitchat & allowed me to follow her around chatting over breakfast" Jill & Rod Schaffer, South Dakota USA. "A lovely relaxing stay in such wonderful surroundings! Thank you for your hospitality & the lifts!" Karen & Luke Riichie, Devon

Weddings galore !10/6/2017 September has been the month for weddings! Even the weather managed to be kind to our couples, with blue skies and fantastic photograph opportunities. Pictures to follow, eventually on the wedding page!
"Thank you so much .... for being the most wonderful hosts. We have had the most amazing wedding. It was beautiful." Sue and David Honeywill, who married at Lisle Combe in September. 'Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to use your home for what became a wedding that was a dream! Sharing our home can be challenging, but meeting such lovely folk is a bonus in this line of work, and we get to chat about life! In this day of technological communication Lisle Combe offers a step back from the immediacy of social media and a 'time out' for our guests to regroup! "We wished it could have been longer - there surely is 'a magic in the distance, where the sea-line meets the sky,' because we discovered it here! so says Mary Montague from East Anglia. Don't forget, we open our doors for our last Pop Up Pub of 2017 on Friday 20th October! A time to meet new and old friends and catch up after the hectic summer! End of School hols9/14/2017 Cloud, rain and sunshine..... it must be the school summer holidays!! August is always a manic time in the Lisle Combe household, juggling bed & breakfast guests and events with children is always an interesting challenge. Camping (during the biggest downpour ever), searching for the largest number of crabs you can find and dealing with numerous sailing instructions were just some of the fun we faced this year! Once again we get to September and feel that we have survived the main bulk of the season's guests, but....... with two weddings in the next couple of weeks and private events in the pipeline, things have yet to quieten down. Not that we are complaining, it is always so joyful to share our beautiful house with the lovely couples who have chosen Lisle Combe as their venue.
Some of the lovely comments we have received from guests this August: 'Thank you for a truly lovely stay. We love it here. One year on from our wedding here; we'll be back next year too!' Paul & Juliette Williams from Wateringbury, Kent. 'Many thanks indeed for another wonderful holiday - Lisle Combe is still our favourite place!' Susanne & Timothy Briden, from London. 'You both were delightful and made our stay ...... an absolute joy. Thank you.' Randy & Allison Gardner from Atlanta, Georgia, USA 'Welcoming & comfortable & relaxing - great stay - thank you - love the house - or rather your home.' Geraldine & James Hide from Lancaster. Dates for your diary: Pop up pub: Friday 20th October Casino Night: Saturday 9th December

tempus Fugit8/14/2017 Time is whizzing past here at Lisle Combe. We are already into August and welcomed visitors from Australia, Switzerland, Germany and of course the UK. It is so lovely to see the surprise on our guests faces as they step through the front door and realise that Lisle Combe has taken them back in time!
Just recently we have enjoyed the Ventnor Fringe and all that was on offer from music to theatre and acrobats. The weather is a bit hit and miss but it doesn't stop our guests from exploring the local coastline from St Catherine's lighthouse to The Crab Shed in Steephill Cove. We have celebrated with Ineke & Mike (their 50th Wedding Anniversary) and are now looking forward to Chloe & Dan's wedding next week. Kayaked with dolphins this morning, before dining on lobster this evening...... life at Lisle Combe! More news next month |
